Our Ideal Candidate
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Civil Engineering Designer;
  • Experience working in the Mid-island area;
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or technical designation with strong civil engineering experience;
  • An accomplished user of AutoCAD Civil 3D;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a variety of drafting standards;
  • Extensive experience with design and creating drawings for land development, site servicing and site grading including volume calculations;
  • Highly organized with a strong sense of time management;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the initiative to use both regularly while interacting with project managers;
  • Experience as Team Lead with associated interaction skills;
  • Loves to learn anything new and takes pride in exceeding expectations;
  • Open to receipt and provision of constructive feedback and learns from input as well as mistakes;
  • Desire to relocate to or reside in Nanaimo, BC;
  • Interested in a long-term commitment, possibly evolving into partnership over time.
Your Work with Us
  • Provide CADD support for projects from preliminary design concept to final record drawing preparation;
  • Work alongside project engineers to create design drawing packages for land development, municipal infrastructure and site servicing projects;
  • Base plan creation using topographical survey data in combination with information received from outside sources;
  • Preparation of volume calculations for site manipulation and grading;
  • Actively involved in training and mentoring of junior staff;
  • Ongoing development and refinement of company drafting standards and project workflow.
