Walter was born and raised in West Vancouver; however, since 2001 he has lived in a variety of remote coastal and interior communities over BC. Over the last 19 years, Vancouver Island has been home with the last 11 years in Nanaimo. With a Diploma in Forest Resources Management obtained at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (1996) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resources Management obtained at the University of British Columbia 2001), he has achieved his dreams of working in the Forest Industry as a resource professional. Over the last 30 years Walter has gained extensive experience within the Forest Management (Silviculture field) and Urban Forestry / Arboriculture sectors which has taken him all over Vancouver Island as well as Haida Gwaii, the Sunshine Coast, remote mid-coast locations, and the BC interior.
Walter joined Newcastle in February 2025 with the primary goal being to expand their services within the Urban Forestry (UF) and Forest Management sectors. He prides himself with being well organized, detail orientated, efficient, and with providing a quality service / product to the client. Additionally, Walter brings valuable leadership and mentorship aspects to internal staff and clientele.
In his spare time, Walter enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors related. He also finds home improvement projects, gardening, and spending time at a family cabin (located within the Cariboo Region) very enjoyable.
